Towards the end of January, TinderPoint were honoured to be invited out to Microsoft Towers in Sandyford to check out the Vista from the inside (sorry!) and meet the Bing Ads Team for a chat.
Sean O’Connor, Senior Sales Manager with Bing, reached out to me to come out to Sandyford, share some ideas, talk about our day-to-day operations and just how Bing is perceived by ourselves and clients alike.
After checking in with my agency rep, Jerome Ducoin, I met up with Sean and Mary Geraghty who heads up SMB Sales & Services at Microsoft, for a bit of a paid search gossip. I was really impressed by just how much had been going on with Bing ads, especially in terms of recent growth, and their plans for the future (but of course, that was all off the record!)
After a nice Microsoft cuppa I got set up in the auditorium and was pleased to see a great turnout – over 30 razor sharp Bing-ers representing so many different areas. Ads services, account managers, search specialists and tech support to name a few.
After a brief intro from Jerome…I took the chance to talk through a little of what-makes-TinderPoint-tick then cranked up some recent project examples on the big screen. These exemplified how we’ve deployed paid search recently in 3 very different roles. CPA intensive e-commerce, aggressive and effective competitor targeting and high impact brand campaign support. From what I could see, audience consciousness remained at 100% so naturally I gave myself a self-congratulatory high-five!
After all that carry-on Jerome and I sat down Actors-Studio-Style while the Bing account management team threw some questions my way in a really engaging Q&A. We covered a wide variety of topics such as, how we pitch and position Bing as a product as well as some interesting management questions relating to budget distribution, tracking, paid search vs other advertising, creative approach, holistic strategy plus Bing, Bing and…well obviously more Bing!
I have got say that I was very impressed with the interaction, LOTS of great questions and the hour flew by, it was really interesting for me to meet the team and I hope they got something from it too!
As an agency, when we pitch paid search in such a Google-centric world we feel it’s critically important to demonstrate knowledge and offer multi-platform ad solutions. Test, test, test Bing alongside your other ad strategies and you might just get a pleasant surprise from what maximum visibility can get you!
